Catastrophe Quickie
I will be posting all sorts of awesome holiday party tips – straight from a real and actual party planner – this afternoon. In the meantime, here is a not-so-frugal and not-so-fabulous lesson my whole family learned this weekend while visiting Big Brother and SIL:
Get the sewer and drainage back-up coverage on your home insurance policy. In the fullness of time (or in my Big Brother’s case, within a year of buying your new home in Oak Park), your basement WILL flood, it WILL happen at the worst possible time (like, say, when your entire family is staying with you… in the basement bedrooms), and it WON’T be covered by your insurance if you don’t have sewer and drainage back-up coverage on your policy.
