Tip Of The Day: Do you want to know instantly about deals and events at TC restaurants, bars and night clubs? Do you want that info to be sent (once again, instantly) to your cell phone? Further Elucidation Of My Cheap Deal: A few weeks ago, my producer e-mailed me a segment idea that was utter GENIUS. Apparently, some smarty pants (CEO Julian Reytel) has come up with a great idea to send out information about discounts/offers and events in the TC directly to subscribers’ phones. Stuff like 1/2 off bottles of wine at Saffron, or free malts at The Malt Shop. This idea is so great, in fact; we filmed a segment about it for tonight’s 5 o’clock news. Which you should all watch. HINT.

What The Deal Is About Sudden Deals:

1. Sign up for a FREE account online here, providing their cell phone numbers, which no, will never be sold to anyone ever.

2. In your account info, state what type of deal you’d like to know about – restaurants, happy hours, music events, etc.

3. Also, state when you’d like to receive the deal. You can either go onto your account and request deals just for that day, or you can set it up to get regular deals at regular intervals. For example, you can say you want happy hour deals for every Friday, or music events for every night of the week.

4. When Sudden Deals has a deal that matches your request, they send a text message to your phone.

5. To redeem the deal, show the message to the restaurant, bar, what-have-you. If you accidently erase it, don’t worry. Your deal is stored online, so you can resend it to your phone.

6. Merchants (the aforementioned bars, restaurants and night clubs) pay a fee to be a part of Sudden Deals. It’s an excellent way for them to advertise their venue, plus offer a deal to get more customers through their doors. If I were a TC merchant, I’d be CLAMORING to be on this site. HINT, PART TWO.

7. Yummy Saffron restaurant in downtown Mpls is a huge supporter of Sudden Deals, and is offering 1/2 bottles of wine every day to members. Even if you aren’t a member of Sudden Deals (and really, it’s FREE, so you should totally sign up for this), you should stop by Saffron. FINAL HINT OF THE DAY.

A Brief Pause To Blog About Blogging:

Tomorrow starts my rebooted year-long shopping challenge. I have to keep track, and then admit to, every single thing I buy. Since I’m starting on a Wednesday, the first “week” will only be 3 days long. Then, my first post of what-all I bought will be this Saturday. I know! Something to look forward to!

Also? I just found out today, ONE DAY LATE, that I could have asked you all to nominate me for Best Twin Cities Blog for City Pages. But noms were due no later than YESTERDAY. ARGH.
