Oh, A Sale-ing We Will Go!

Large_shopping_b[1]

Which is cheaper and safer than sailing, if you ask me.

Tip Of The Day:  April in Minnesota means two things – random snowstorms and amazing sales.  I’ll put up with the former just to have the latter, especially the sale going on As I Type at Optiz’s Annex in St. Louis Park.

Tip For Tomorrow:  Reader questions answered.  For once, instead of picking your brains for frugal tips and passing them off as my own, I’m picking your brains for questions.  And then, I’m actually doing the work ALL BY MYSELF to find the answers.  Guess I’m not as lazy as you all thought…

Further Elucidation Of My Cheap Deal:  Today I awoke with a song in my heart and frugal goodness in my head, all because of one simple thing – it was (and continues to be) sunny out.  No rain, no sleet, no snow (like the mini-blizzard we had yesterday), just pure, glorious sunshine.  I’m basking in it right now, because I know that by tomorrow, it will probably be snowing again.  Such is life in the Vast Frozen Wastes of the North.

Many of you living elsewhere, in non-extreme-weather locales like California (lucky), are perhaps pondering to yourselves, “Selves, why does she stay in MN if the weather is so God-awful?  She should move here – wherever here is.”  Maybe.  Maybe I should move to a better climate.  But then I’d be without Optiz Outlet, and THAT would suck harder than any blizzard could.

Optiz Outlet, for the few TCians who’ve resisted its siren call, is a discount designer clothing store in St. Louis Park.  But this ain’t no Marshalls or TJ Maxx, oh no.  These folks don’t sell their wares at sort-of, kind-of discount prices, like 50% off.  Optiz marks their brand-spanking new designer duds down to 70-80% off.  That’s right, 80% OFF.  As in, you only pay 20% of the retail price.  We have a name for that – it’s called (practically) FREE.

As if 80% off wasn’t good enough, Optiz’s Annex (the Annex is next door to the Outlet) is having one of their Blowout Sales, where Everything Must Go so they can Restock The Annex.  Yes, All That Capitalization Is Necessary.

Right now, everything in the main Annex is just $5, and everything in the Temporary Annex (which is next to the Annex, which is next to the Outlet) is $3 or LESS.  Then, on Friday and Saturday, everything at the main Annex is $3, and on Sunday, everything is just one freaking dollar.  A dollar.  You can’t even buy a cup of coffee for a buck at Starbucks.  And yet, at the Annex, you can buy clothes, shoes and accessories for a mere 100 pennies.

Caveat:  The Annex, and the Temporary Annex, is where Optiz sells their ever-so-slightly damaged goods, or stuff that folks have passed over too many times at the Outlet.  So check for broken zippers, stains, tears and falling hems.  However, most of the boo-boos can be fixed either DIY or by a talented seamstress/drycleaner.  And for something that only cost a dollar, paying a few bucks to have it fixed is still a HECK of a good deal.

Question for You, and You, and You:  What is your favorite sale?

Favorite sale, always the 50% off the whole store sale at Value Village.

And on another topic, I have one word for you. Think of this word when you are feeling sad that you live in a "frozen wasteland". Think of it when you wish you lived in California. Ready? Here is the word: Tarantulas. That's right, big, hairy spiders. My aunt-in-law lives in a gorgeous palm-surrounded home with a pool and all sorts of California-y goodness, but when she is sweeping around the outside of her house, or gardening, or barbecuing, etc. she occasionally runs into a tarantula. Because THEY LIVE THERE. Right in the cracks of her house!!! That's enough to keep me in MN, thanks very much.

So who told you about the Opitz sale? Why that would be me. The person who will someday (provided they allow this at Fort Snelling National Cemetery) "She always had a coupon" on her tombstone. It is totally true.

Also, looking forward to going to Joann's this weekend! I have been in withdrawal this week, what with actually working and all. Sheesh.
