Reader Tips A-Go-Go

60sgogo[1]

Tip Of The Day:  Whenever possible, have other people do your job for you.  Like today.  The denizens of Cheap Chicklandia have sent me so many reader tips, they’ve written my post for me.  Thanks guys!  Now if you’ll excuse me, my nap won’t sleep itself…

Tip For Tomorrow:  When I’m not being a total slack ass, I actually, well, DO stuff.  Like exercise and make nutritious food – that kind of stuff (as well as work, film, teach, and try to pay my mortgage).  Tune in tomorrow and I’ll share a few of my favorite free exercises and cheap noshes that help me stay (mostly) in shape for less.

Further Elucidation Of My Cheap Deal:  I’ve been gathering all sorts of awesome reader tips for weeks.  Today, I’m unveiling them to the world – at least that portion of the world that reads my blog.

And please, keep those e-mail tips coming so I can rest on my laurels even more.

1.  This letter is from the lovely people at SelectSpecs.com, and it’s about a killer deal on glasses:

Dear Cheap Chick,

Hope you're well (I am).  I contacted you a while back about our "Super Saver Glasses" promotion – www.selectspecs.com/cheap-glasses/.  I didn't see the post go up (it did, I’m sorry you missed it) and just wondered if you still wanted to share this with your readers (I’m doing that right now)?

We had to postpone our official launch & publicity till this week because we had an overwhelming response from the pre-launch buzz last time.  We've now got 5x the stock of these glasses, plus a new factory and staff to cope with the expected demand!

To recap on the offer, we're doing a range of glasses frames at $8 including lenses and UV, anti-scratch and anti-glare coatings, which is cheaper than anyone else online in the world.  BTW the price had to go up from $7 to $8 because of exchange rates.  Sad, but it's still the cheapest around.

Would be great to get a link from Cheap But Not Easy (thank you, but we’re The Cheap Chick.com now – I’ll still give you a link, though)!

2.  Here’s an amazing tip about an online store for non-perishable goods:

Hi, I read your blog all the time (aww, thanks) but never really had anything to write in about before.  I recently found a new website called www.alice.com that’s for non-perishables.  Everything from baby food and diapers to deodorant and dish soap.  It has great prices – better than local stores for the most part – and it offers free shipping no matter how much your order is with 1-4 day delivery.

I have already received my first 3 orders.  I will give you a link to use and if you'd like to offer it to your readers you are welcome to as well (just did, and thank you!).  By using the link instead of just going to alice.com you will get a $10 credit after you spend $50 (sweet!).

Pampers jumbo packs are $8.75 with free shipping, and a lot of the baby food is cheaper than Walmart.  Some other great deals I've found are:  Gerber Fruit Twists are $1.19 a box – regular price is $2.99 – and  Gerber Oatmeal w/ bananas 8 oz. boxes are $.83 – regular price is $2.08 a box.  I know this one isn't for baby, but Quaker granola bars are $1.25 – regular price is $3.15. I love these and buy them all the time for around $3. Here's the link: http://www.alice.com/referral/44BA7844

Thanks, Janelle (no Janelle, thank YOU!)

3.  These next two “living green” recommendations are from my green buddy, Jen:

Cheap Chick,

I'd be interested to hear what you think of this.  A fellow green friend recommended it to me – looks interesting, if not quite comprehensive yet.  It's still in Beta it says (yup, still in the Beta stage today, I just checked), which I think means not quite done.  Good idea though:  http://www.goodguide.com/ (yes, it is a good idea, and a cool site, Beta stage or not.)

And then she had this one:

Thought of you when I saw this (aww, thanks Jen) http://www.abramsbooks.com/Books/The_Lazy_Environmentalist_on_a_Budget-9781584797517.html.  Al Gore will love you (and you know how I like to garner his favor)!  Plus, of course, I have a code for it:  Preserve newsletter subscribers get a 25% discount on his book, so pick up a copy here and learn about furnishing your home, bringing a green touch to the office, and fun eco-friendly toys for your tot.  To redeem, enter “LazyE609” at check out. Offer lasts until July 31st.

Last, here’s a super-cool shopping event for the ladies of the Land:
