Tip Of The Day: There are some things in life worth any amount of money. However, you should still try to get the biggest bang for your buck, even on the pricey stuff. Let’s not throw our cash away, people – that’s just crazy talk.
Tip For Tomorrow: Operation Familial Visitation will reach its fever pitch tomorrow at sunrise. Stop back for photographic evidence, as well as a review of Albertville Mall’s Fourth of July Sale. Because nothing says “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” like a sidewalk sale.
Further Elucidation Of My Cheap Deal: In life, from time to time, we are smacked upside the head by expensive expenses. Some will be annoying (if not downright EVIL) like car repairs, home repairs and health care. Others will be costly, yes, but filled with so much joy and wonderment, you’ll pay endless bills for umpty-ump dollars and simply not care.
For example, pets are not compatible with a frugal lifestyle, but they sure are worth it:
Such as this little poopsy-doodle – my Dad and StepMom’s dog, Sadie. She’s a five-year-old cockapoo – which can be an expensive animal to buy from a breeder, especially if you want a puppy. However, my parents are not only thrifty, but civic-minded, too. They adopted Sadie from the Nebraska Humane Society – thus, donating to charity AND getting a $500+ dog for a fraction of the price, all in one fell swoop.
The very best thing about Sadie isn’t her price tag, though, it’s her inherent awesomeness. This dog is well behaved, well trained, and cuter than you. If you’d like to find a Sadie (or cat, I suppose) of your own in the TC, check out the Animal Humane Society in Golden Valley. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a dog to snuggle.
NOTE: Guess who else is coming to town and is also is worth the added expense? Here’s a hint:

I was at the Albertville outlet mall today. Some great deals, some NOT. I wanted another pair of my awesome Tevas. They were on the "sidewalk" yet were the same price I just paid at Amazon! I did get some awesome buy one get one half off sunglasses from Fossil – total $15 for two awesome pairs. You might want to check into the "occasional" stores. I think they are actually in Buffalo. I went today with a friend that lives in Albertville, and we drove about 15 minutes to get there. There are a half dozen stores that are only open either the first Thursday of the month, or Th-Fr-S-S, and they draw a frenzied crowd of bargain hunters. Mostly thrift store/antique store like stuff, repainted furniture, very shabby chic. I got a wood fancy bookshelf for $32, a red metal one for $18, a metal napkin holder for less than $2, a few other things. I'm trying to remember their names… one was "Second Hand Rose", one was "Three sisters". Here's a link to what I got when I googled it:

It was really fun!
On behalf of the staff, volunteers and of course the animals from Animal Humane Society – THANK YOU for promoting the adoption of shelter animals. We greatly appreciate it.
And since this is a blog on frugal living, I thought I should mention this great new promotion we're offering now through Sept 30.
It's called "Double the Love" for those individuals looking to invite two cats into their home. Under this program, when you adopt one cat at the regular adoption fee, the fee will be waived for the second cat.
Not only does this help your readers save money on the adoption fees, but this really makes a big impact on the lives on the animals that need homes. In the summer months we see an average of 70 cats surrendered to us in a day – that's nearly 500 a week and nearly 2,000 a month!

Erin, CUTE doggie AND as always, CUTE nephew Piglet.
I am a strong promoter/believer in adopting rescue dogs and cats, as I got a beloved stray dog 20 years ago gtom the Golden Valley humane society shelter you mentioned. While my Spitz-Sheltie dog/best little furry friend died 6 years ago, I still sing the praises of the humane society and their work. I wish I could adopt another pet right now, even with that wonderful "deal" on cats available (cats are totally cool with me too). That's a super idea. Unfortunately, I'm not in a situation to adopt more than a pet rock.
Someday, when things are much better, I know I'll return to Golden Valley to look for a new best buddy (or two!). Thank you from the bottom of my heart to Mr. Cass and the staff at the GV shelter. Hopefully, you'll see me again soon. And thank you, Erin, for getting the word out about their organization. If I could adopt a bunch of animals, I sure would. I have lots of love to give, but not not the resources at this time.
