Back With A Vengeance

Dudes.  I am so sorry I blew off Friday’s post.  However, at that point I was operating on 4 hours of sleep, packing for a weekender in Kenosha, and freaking out about all our unfinished sewing projects.

But now I’m back!  Albeit, not from outer space.  Just from Kenosha and the Bristol Renaissance Faire, where the Wench Posse TOTALLY DOMINATED in our wacked-out Elizabethan garb.  Don’t believe me?  Check this out:

GP and Viking

Behold, the unnatural love between a Green Bay Packer and a Viking.

That is the lovely and very awesome Talon – one of the many awesome folk you will find at the Bristol Ren Faire.  I promise I will supply you with a full posting of our adventures in Bristol this Saturday.

However, this IS supposed to be a web site dedicated to Frugal Living, and not just Ren Festing.  So, in the interest of keeping the non-Fest folks entertained and educated, here is a frugal tip I learned from my favorite silver shop at Bristol:

To clean your silver jewelry and other delicate jewels, use a soft toothbrush and gel toothpaste.  Gently scrub your jewelry with the gel paste (yes, it must be the gel kind – cheaply available at your local Target) and rinse in warmish water.  Voila!  Clean and shiny shiny objects, at a fraction of the price of special (and stinky) silver polish!  This also works on amber, pearls, and other delicate gems.

One last thrifty tip I learned from my Bristol trip?  When eating at Cracker Barrel, always get the “meat and two,” NOT the “meat and three.”  Three side dishes are one side dish too many.  I’m just saying.

Tune in later tonight for my horrifying Weekly Recap and less horrifying Eye Candy.

Wow! What a spectacular gown, indeed. Great job! :-)

For cleaning jewelry, I usually use Dawn dish soap, water, and a child’s toothbrush (new, not taken from a kid). But I do use the toothpaste idea when removing tarnish from my silver stuff (it works great).
