First and foremost, I’d like to thank everyone for, well, several things. Let’s itemize them, shall we?
1. The kind words and well-wishes from everyone about my switch from Tuesday evenings to the 9 AM hour of the Morning Show on Fox 9 News. Thank you so much for your support, it means so much to me.
2. Signing up to be a Fan of the Cheap Chick. I finally broke 100 Fans (not literally, that would be grounds for jail time). Which means I get my own vanity designation of Facebook – http://www.facebook.com/TheCheapChick. Apparently (according to my Web Developer Guru), this is a Very Big Deal.
3. Following me on Twitter. I’m still working on updating Twitter regularly, but I have to say, it is HIGHLY addictive so far. Almost as bad as Facebook, if such a thing is possible.
4. Just being awesome in general. I don’t think people hear that nearly enough – “You, YOU, are awesome. In fact, you are covered in Awesome Sauce, topped with Whipped Awesome Cream, and a big, fat Awesome Cherry of AWESOMENESS.”
In other news, although filming of my last Tuesday evening Cheap Chick segment was pre-empted for bad news (officer shooting, never a good thing), I was able to film my segment today. Tune in to Fox 9 to see me dressed in actual Vikings gear. My Green Bay Packer soul shriveled up and DIED.
Here’s what tonight’s segment is all about. Read it here first, and then watch it at 5 PM:
Where to find great deals on Minnesota Vikings wearables and other gear. Best of all? The first two tips apply to anyone’s home-town team. So, for you folks living in Illinois or California, or any state that has pro teams, listen up.
1. Target, aka Land Of Everything You Need, And Even More Stuff You Don’t, But You End Up Buying Anyway, Since You’re At The Store. Target carries a decent selection of Vikings T’s and jerseys in both the Men’s and Boy’s departments. They have the very best prices going, albeit not the largest selection.
To make sure you get what you want from Target, call first to see what your store is carrying, or what they are supposed to get in. Then, place your item on hold, so it’s not sold out from under you. Because apparently? I’m the only one who goes to Target every single day of her life.
2. JC Penneys. You’ll find an outstanding collection of wearables, including Favre’s Purple #4, in men’s, boy’s AND women’s sizes. You’ll find the women’s gear mixed in with the men’s stuff, but there’s nothing wrong with mingling with men. One word of caution, ladies? Our gear seems to have been Bedazzled by an overly enthusiastic preteen. You’ve been warned.
Penney’s has their Viking’s gear on sale (most items seemed to be 20% off) from now until the 15th. And the jerseys will be 25% off from the 15th to the 29th, so stock up this month for the season/Christmas/birthdays, etc.
3. Dome Plus and Dome Plus.com. Do you love all the Minnesota Pro Teams? Do you want to own every possible item of sports paraphernalia known to mankind? Then you need to add DomePlus.com to your list of online Favorites, as well as skibble on down to the MetroDome Gate A. Right across from the gate is Dome Plus’ bricks and mortar store, chock full of the gear you need to impress your neighbors.
Here’s what I like about Dome Plus – their sales. They have weekly, monthly, and clearance sales, plus whole sections of merchandise priced from $2-5 and $5-10. This is where you go to find Twins stocking stuffers or Vikings jewelry. Because nothing shows your Purple Pride more than dangling, enameled Vikings earrings.
Last, in other, OTHER news, I will be posting my weekly spending recap later on this evening. And to lure you back to the Cheap Chick Empire to read it, I’ll also be posting pics of hot men. Hot actors you may not remember but should, to be exact. I sense you are intrigued…

A belated CONGRATS, Erin!
Best of luck and have fun with the newer Fox 9 gig.
I enjoyed the blog piece above. Thanks!
I’d like to add that Kohl’s usually carries various sports shirts and jerseys as well, and they go on sale on occasion. Sorry I can’t provide approximate sale dates. I waited for eons to get an authentic Twins jersey, and was finally able to afford one (no number or player name on it) a few years ago at Kohl’s, thanks to a groovy sale.
