Otherwise known as Meh and Blah Disease. It’s like Hoof and Mouth Disease, only more INSIDIOUS.
Tip Of The Day: Oddly enough for me, I don’t have much to say today. Fortunately for The Empire, the latest edition of Lucky Magazine has plenty to talk about. I’ve pulled the best deals (in my humble opinion) from their pages, and I’m passing them on to you – or at least, those of you who don’t read Lucky. If you have read it, share whatever cheap treats I’ve missed in the Comments. Or don’t, I’m not the boss of you. YET.
Tip For Tomorrow: The feeling I’m getting from the group (via Facebook and in real-life discussions) is that no one is really that psyched up about Chrismakwansica… or whatever you celebrate. However, I believe that this is the Most Wonderful Time….Of The Yeeeeeear, so I need you to get on board and feel the love. Ergo, tomorrow we’re talking about cheap and fabulous ways to get in the spirit of the holiday season.
Further Elucidation Of My Cheap Deal: Ever have one of those days, a perfectly fine day where nothing BAD happens, but still you’re left with a feeling of… ick? Where all you want to do is curl up with a trashy novel and a mug of spiked cocoa and lock out the world? Me, too, and guess what? Today is that kind of day.
But time waits for no Chick, and it is my self-appointed duty to provide you with fresh and frugal content, Monday through Friday. Therefore, I turned to an unlikely source of thrifty goodness – Lucky Magazine. Here are my favorite goodies from the December 2009 edition:
1. Awesome website for one-of-a-kind and do-it-yourself jewelry – www.ponoko.com. You can make household goods and light fixtures, too, but the jewelry is the best deal. For something this custom-made, their stuff is surprisingly inexpensive. It’s hard to really describe this site in one bullet point – you have to see it for yourself. AFTER you’re done reading this post, of course.
2. You want REALLY ethnic, ethnic stuff – www.yurdan.com. They have jewelry (I do like my shiny things) and accessories and home décor and other fab giftie-type things you can buy for yourself and others. Best of all, they allow you to arrange the merch by price, so you can easily search for things under $25 or between $25 – $50, without getting bogged down in the $1,000+ stuff. Also, they’re having a sale with items marked down as much as 70% off. Also also, they have velvet hip scarves for sale for just $12.80. hint, hint, hint…
3. Got a sweet tooth that needs soothing? Walmart is now carrying make-up line Hard Candy, makers of fun stuff like Ginormous Lash and Painted Lady Lipstick. With Target carrying ELF make-up as well, there is no reason why you can’t look fabulous for less. Now if Walgreens would just stock MAC…
4. You don’t have to diet this holiday season if you wear one of these – www.shapefx.com. ShapeFX has a whole slew of shapers, pants/skirts with shapers, swimsuits with shapers, and shaper dresses. Perfect for your next party! And NONE of them are over $100 – plus, most are in the $65-$70 range. So now you can have that extra glass of eggnog and afford to pay for it, too.
You know what? After looking at all that frugally goodness, I feel my ennui slipping away! I also feel the need to go shopping… oops.

I’m having an eh and meh day too. Off to check out those web sites, they sound awesome!
Target has ELF cosmetics?? Huh. Haven’t seen them yet. Maybe they’re at select store locations. I know of one that carries Milani cosmetics, but another one that doesn’t, for instance.
