Reader Tips, Clever Quips

And a slew of other things that end in ‘ips.

Tip Of The Day:  I have a couple goodies from our readers, including the triumphant return of our Empire’s Chancellor, Dan The Man.  As always, keep those thrifty tips flowin’ this way.  Much like this Strongbow Cider I drink is flowing down my throat, to be destroyed in a pool of stomach acids.

Tip For The Weekend:  Teach real estate pre-licensing classes!  Oh wait, that’s just me.  I know!  Attend real estate pre-licensing classes, so I continue to have a job!  That’s an EXCELLENT idea.  And at under $600 for all the classes, it’s the cheapest post-secondary education around.

Further Elucidation Of My Cheap Deal:  This just in – fun and frugal reader tips to kick your weekend off with a bang.  Did I just mix metaphors there?  Hmm, perhaps yes.  I think I’ll have another sip of that Strongbow…

From Tashi:  TurnStyle is having a major fall sale – 25% off all regular priced clothing, furniture and home décor.  The sale is going on now until Sunday the 15th.  And if you run into my buddy Tashi whilst shopping, say hi!

From Chancellor Dan:  “Hey, it’s been a while since I’ve given you a frugal tip – too many changes/things going on in life lately. Well here’s a great one that I just heard about – especially if you are someone who enjoys cooking. Lund’s and Byerly’s will sharpen un-serrated knives for free if you take them to the butcher counter. Just leave your name and you will have them sharpened like new in 1-2 days. What a great deal!!! Remember, sharp knives prevent accidents in the kitchen – most of the time.”

And a quickie from Matt at Thrifty Hipster:  “Daily $3.99 blue plate specials at Liquor Lyles, you should check that one out…”  Four dollar food?  Like turkey and gravy or meatloaf?  You bet your sweet ass I’m checking that out!  Mmmmm… gravy.

Last, but not least, here’s a fun site to visit when your life becomes needlessly filled with the DRAMA.  Courtesy of Larue and her hubby, El Jefe, I give you the Drama Button.  Use it wisely.

:-) Thanks for the mention, Erin. Happy to help! One other thing about Turnstyle…. If you receive their notices or coupons via e-mail, you don’t have to print them out in order to take advantage of the specials. I’ve been told by store personnel, that if you simply mention the sale/coupon special, you should receive it. Before I was on the e-mail list, I overheard other customers discussing the e-mailed coupons. I then asked a cashier about it. She gave me the discount — woohoo!

I’ve been pretty drama llama free lately (all my llamas are calm these days). I raise my margarita to not needing to use the button for a very, very long time.

Thank goodness that button is virtual, or we would have worn it out at our house, what with the sick puppy and Grandma breaking her pelvis and all.

I would like to go to DK’s house and drink margaritas. Name the time!
