And yet, I’m still finding hair care products to review. Quick! Someone write another hippie musical ode to flowing tresses…
Tip Of The Day: Got hair? Need a product to style it? Want said product to cost less than $5? Then read on for my hair care product review o’ the day.
Tip For Tomorrow: It’s baaaaaack. No, not the TV people (80’s movie flashback, woot!), but rather the return of the Hump Day Opinion Poll. Tune in tomorrow to share your view points on weighty issues of our time. I promise – I won’t bring up that celebrity golpher. The one who’s name rhymes with Wiger Toods.
Further Elucidation Of My Cheap Deal: It’s been said, by people who know way more about these things than I do, that one’s hair changes with the seasons. One minute it’s flat and dull, the next it’s dry and static-y, the next it’s an oily mess.
My hair certainly goes through different and annoying phases – whether they’re brought on by weather or lack of weather or just sheer stubbornness on my head’s part, I’ll never know for sure. But I do know my last, best hair care product wasn’t cutting it anymore, and it was time for something new:
Tousle Me Softly Mousse by Herbal Essences. Lame name, perhaps, but otherwise an ace product. Here’s why:
1. It smells good (supposedly like violets – not that I know what violets actually smell like), without being overpoweringly strong.
2. It holds my style without being sticky or greasy-looking.
3. It doesn’t dry out the majority of my hair. Granted, it’s not softening enough for the tips – but nothing that styles my hair well ever works on the ends. I always apply a hair softener of some sort whilst blow-drying the tips of my hair.
4. It imparts loads of shine and bounce, and makes my hair look smooth, healthy, and most important – FULL.
5. The Mousse is readily available at Target for $2.99 plus tax, and Herbal Essences products often go on sale.
My only complaint? It doesn’t de-static-ify my hair particularly well. But then, in the cold/dry outdoor air then hot/dry indoor air of our Minnesota winters, very little makes my hair non-static-filled. Even SunSilk’s Anti-Static products didn’t always work. Not that I could ever find them at Target…
I can’t be the only one. Do you use different hair care products in the winter?

One Comment
In the wintertime, I usually start using slightly thicker hand/body and face lotions (ones with more “oomph” for the winter, anyway), as well as ensuring that I use a leave-in conditioner. Also, as throughout the rest of the year, I don’t wash my hair more than twice a week, which especially helps it stay healthier in the cold, dry months.
