We Are Waiting, We Have Not Forgotten

Best line from my second favorite Christmas Carol, or just plain creepy?  You decide – at any rate, happy one week until Christmas, y’all!

First off, I have some Happy Birthdays to deliver to the denizens of our Cheap Chick EmpireDena Lynn, the sis of my BFF HaC (Sunday the 13th), Boo-Boo my goddaughter and daughter of HaC (Monday the 14th) and my BFF Larue (today the 17th).  Hippo Birdie Two Ewes, and Mandy Moores!  Moving on.

As befitting my BFF, Larue has this frugal gem to pass on – all the B Dalton bookstores in all the land (well, the Twin Cities at least) are closing down for good.  I guess Barnes and Noble is finally doing them in, BUT!  Here is the benefit to you – everything in their stores is currently 40% off, and the discounts will only get better as they wind things down.  Also, B Dalton will continue to honor your B&N cards while they last – so get crackalackin’ and get me some books!  Or, you know, get yourselves some books, whatever.

Our Stunt Girl never sleeps, and as such she sent me this tip in the middle of the night.  It pertains to how one can best use Amazon.com:

“Did you know that Amazon has expanded their wish list feature? You can now download a tool bar button for your browser window and add items from any web site.  I have been doing this to help my family/boyfriend/boyfriend’s family figure out what to get me for gifts.

The best part is that they leave you spaces to note prices and other information.  So I, being the Stunt Girl I am, make note of any discount codes or “get here for less” deals I know of.  I figure if can save them money, maybe they will love me more, therefore desire to give me more and better things next month, when I have a birthday but magically stay the same age (as we all do in the Empire).”

One last tippy-tip – one I’ve heard from various Fox 9 folks, my friends, heck even my MOM:

The New Year is the best time to clean out your closets and donate all your unwanted stuff.  Out with the old and in with the new!  So make one of your resolutions this – I resolve to declutter in 2010, and bring my donations to Value Village, Goodwill and Saver’s.  Also?  I resolve to Fan the Cheap Chick on Facebook.  Also also?  I resolve to help her win a spot on Oprah’s couch before her show goes off the air.  See?  WE ALL WIN.

I’m sorry for the folks at B. Dalton, but *glad* it’s not Half Price Books. Whew. Btw, I thought BD was a smaller “sister” store to B&N. Either way, looks like they’re not much longer for this world. The only location I know of closed eons ago.

    Cooper Rocks!

Many fabulous people have helped The Cheap Chick Empire throughout the years, and one of the best and coolest people to give me a hand up is Cooper Lawrence.  So I was THRILLED when I saw she had a new book out – The Yoga Club.  Dudes, you should all go buy it now and then read it and then say awesome things about it.

Why?  Because Cooper is an amazing writer.  And?  A vastly entertaining person.  So it’s worth your time and money.  Cooper Lawrence!  She is Cheap Chick Approved.
