Whooboy, have I been CRANKY lately. And I’m afraid I’ve been taking it out on my poor, unsuspecting blog posts. Poor little blog posts, they never hurt anyone…
But then, I had an awakening. Actually, it was more like a saw-what-one-of-my-fave-blogger-said-and-realized-it-totally-applied-to-my-bad-behavior, but whatever. Said blogger pointed out that no one likes to read whining. Whining is a downer, and instead of garnering sympathy, it makes the reader feel both punchy and stabby about the author (and no, she wasn’t referring to me, just whiny bloggers in general).*
*Edit 2/12, Never fear, gentle readers, no one told me I was being whiny. I told me I was being whiny, because it’s true. And apparently, I CAN handle the truth (tee-hee)!
And you know what? She’s right. Whining sucks, and we at the Cheap Chick Empire are ALL ABOUT THE NOT SUCKING. We want to be awesome – and happy, information-filled posts are awesome. Debbie Downer rants about how life blows? Not so much with the awesomeness.
Bearing that in mind, today’s post has 86% more awesome, and 92% less whining. So let’s get it started in here with my favorite store – Target. Guess who’s the latest designer for the woman’s department? C’mon, guess. Give up? It’s Jean Paul Gaultier! That’s like, a REALLY BIG DEAL. How can you tell? Because I typed it ALL IN CAPS. Also, Gaultier has been a major designer since, well, since I realized that fashion designers existed. And I’m old, people. The fashions hit your local Target March 7th, but I recommend shopping online to get your hands on the full collection.
You know what else is awesome? My buddy, Danger Kitty – and her recent discovery of the frugal fabulousness that is EyesLipsFace.com. She texted me in a state of utter glee this week, regarding her online makeup shopping spree. She found great basics at great prices, and then? Pulled a thrifty hat trick and used a coupon code when she checked out, for even more savings.
Where can you find coupon codes for online shopping? Honestly, go to Google.* You should Google everything you want to buy online BEFORE you shop. You’re bound to find a coupon code, or a store with a lower price than you thought was available. Plus, Googling things is a great way to kill time at work when you’re bored and your boss isn’t looking.
*By the way, there are coupon codes to use on ELF’s website, available now until February 15. So you can pull your own hat trick, with very little effort.
One last awesome thing – click here to see the awesome shoes my awesome BFF, HaC, bought me for my birthday. Happiness is having a best friend who loves you enough to buy you shoes. And you can buy your own pair, if you act fast. These beauties won’t last long.

Love the shoes – tres sexy!!! I’m glad you had a great birthday.
Whining may be a downer, but you’re human. Cut yourself a wee bit of slack.
Thanks, anyway, for caring about what you write!
I definitely wasn’t thinking of you with the “whining” comment!
Thanks for the JPG tip! I added that to my calendar.
Also, so sorry about any cat hair on the sweater I sent! I haven’t worn the collar for years and didn’t realize it had cat hair on it.
Actually, I should add my cat-owner status to my swap profile because you can never really get rid of all the cat hair/dander when you have as many as I do!
Yo. You’ve been sick. Cut yourself some slack. Although you did miss all the tasty snacks from last night’s get -together… Heh.
@Kasmira – the sweater is utterly FABULOUS! And I love your kitties… sadly, from a distance. But the pictures you post of them make my day
Also – your interview ROCKED. Seriously, great advice for bloggers, newbies and otherwise. I hope my fellow posters have a chance to read it and get inspired. I sure did!
P.S. Erin, I forgot to say, *I* didn’t catch on to any “whininess”.
Maybe I subconsciously look past it? Or maybe you don’t whine loudly enough. LOL Anywho, if you thought you were whiny, no big whoop. Somehow, your writing still manages to inform and entertain. Thank you! I second the thanks for the Jean Paul Gaultier heads-up as well. Yay!! I’ve loved looking at his stuff since the ’80s, when he was working with Madonna, back in the day. Or was that Christisan Lacroix? Eh.
Please be cautious when ordering through ELF. Many friends have not had issues, but one friend had to cancel her credit card due to some fraudulant happenings on ELF’s behalf (had to do with adding extra things on at the end of your order…magazines, newsletters and the like). Like always, buyer beware.
