You got to admit it, though. Mice are awfully cute, talking or otherwise.
The weekend is the most wonderful time of the year… if you’re shopping for Prom/Bridesmaid/Formal dresses and want to save a ton of money. Why, you ask? Because, I answer, Operation Glass Slipper is having an Event with a capital E. Which stands for ‘Egads, What A Sale!’ Check it out:
“Operation Glass Slipper, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing free prom gowns and accessories to high school girls in the greater Twin Cities area, announces its biggest fundraising sale of the year. Thousands of dresses from the organization’s excess inventory will be available at the three-day event, including all-occasion styles, bridal gowns and flower girl dresses. There will also be a large selection of jewelry, shoes and purses.
“The sale is open to the public and will help to raise funds for Operation Glass Slipper’s annual spring giveaway event where hundreds of girls from throughout Minnesota are expected to attend and get outfitted for prom. Money raised will be used to purchase shoes, accessories and makeup that will be made available at the March event along with thousands of dresses for prom-goers to choose from.
“The cash-only sale takes place Feb. 12-14 at the Wellstone Center in St. Paul and will be restocked daily with dresses from $5 to $20, bridal gowns from $20 to $50 and a rack of flower girl dresses for $20.”
The Deets: Friday, Feb. 12, 3:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 13, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 14, 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. The Wellstone Center, 179 Robie Street, St. Paul, MN. And thank you to my PR buddy, Sarah, for the info on this awesome and inspiring sale.
Not in the market for a fancy dress? First of all, bummer. Dressing shopping is very much fun. Second of all, no problem, we’ve got you covered. Your local Turn Style is having a massive sale on their winter inventory, going on right now:
“We (meaning Turn Style, not the Empire) are at the end of our Clearance sale. We have marked all of our RED ticketed winter items down to $2.00 or less. Hurry in as this will only last a week (presumably until next Tuesday).
“We are in the spring mood at Turn Style and we need your spring/summer fashions now! March madness is almost here, and that means spring break time. We are busy taking your spring items, but we need lots more! We are looking for dresses, jeans, knit tops, pants, shoes and accessories like jewelry, belts, scarves, just to name a few.”
There you go – out with the old clothes and in with the new. Best of all, winter items are still a hot commodity in the Great White North, since winter is NEVER GOING TO END – as evidenced by the extreme snow we’ve had all week. So pick up some new, cute (and warm) items, and you’ll get at least 2 more months’ wear out of them this season.

Oh, no, mice are not cute! Their bulging eyes freak me out. One false move and I’m afraid they’ll pop!
We have a similar group in the Cincinnati area. It’s an awesome way to recycle a dress!
I second that mice aren’t cute – especially when they were running around my humble abode. And the fact that they can flatten themselves to squeeze through a space that’s 1/4 inch – ewww! I can certainly bring some over to your house if you think they’re adorable.
Yuck, yuck, yuuuuck, MICE! I like the computer kind and Mickey Mouse only. We have an old house, and at one time, had a bad mouse problem. Heh-heh, our kitty helped us take care of *that* little issue (she should’ve gotten a job with Orkin).
That Operation Glass Slipper event sounds wonderful.
I hope they have a fabulous turnout. What a great cause. I wish I had access to an event like this when I was in high school. And I’d be remiss if I didn;t say, I *LOVE* Turnstyle. They SO rock. So does the word “clearance”, woo-hoo!!
Um, when I discovered at the old house that we had mice and they had been living in my FABRIC STASH it was not pleasant. I also didn’t like having to dispose of them when my cat had found them.
So no, only the Disney ones are cute. And not only do they talk and sing, they sew. So if you find some 2-dimensional singing, talking, sewing cartoon mice, you can send them to my home. I have work for them to do.
Dudes! Where’s the rodent love?
i love rats and mice. They are great pets! Highly intelligent too.
