I miss cheap gas too...remember 99 cents a gallon???
And, alas, Steve & Barry's was a downfall of mine. But they live on in thrifty goodness as my now "Whatever" sweatshirt was once their "Ford" sweatshirt that I got for $1 during their going out of business sale.

When i lived in TX, we had $1 movie theaters all over the place. Sure the movies has been out for a couple of months by the time I saw them, but I got the theater experience and didn't have to wait for video to see a flick for cheap. Best of both worlds. We also had a wonderful chain of stores called Puff's $12 Zoo. Everything was $12 or less. There was also a Puff's $8 Zoo. Oh, and Smarts! You would have loved Smarts, Eric! It was the Target outlet store. Got my first CD boombox there! Ah, sweet cheapness, those were the days...

iTunes raised their prices? Gah! Is because I was unfaithful and downloaded some music from Amazon last week? I feel so guilty now.... ;)

Fyi, Isaac Mizrahi now sells stuff on QVC. I haven't been able to buy anything yet, but the items look very nice. Similar to what he did for Target, in my humble opinion.

What frugal goodness do I miss? The gas coupons at Cub.

I miss the days before everyone discovered thrift stores. I mean, I love it that others now know how cheap it can be to find great clothing that no one else wants, cast off purses, jackets of all kinds - hello Italian leather beauty for only $20.oo!!!- but I remember when jeans were $1.99, and you could get three shirts for $5.00 and then everyone started pouring through the doors and the prices shot through the roof. *sigh* I still go, and love it. Especially when someone goes nuts over something I'm wearing I get to say "Yeah, I got it at the thrift store for like $4.00!" That's a good thing.
