Time, that is. It keeps slipping, slipping, slipping, into the future. Taking with it the hours I need to get stuff done. I blame daylight savings – it screws everything up.
Apparently, last week’s posting every day challenge had absolutely ZERO impact on me. Oh sure, I posted frugally goodness Monday through Sunday, for your reading pleasure. But have I kept that up for this week? Not even a tiny bit.
So although last week’s challenge was a rousing success (yay, me!), the result from conducting said challenge was moot (boo, me). It did not inspire me to post on a regular basis, as evidenced by my failure to post yesterday. Bad frugal living blogger, BAD. Moving on.
This week’s challenge is fairly enjoyable for me, and will result in interesting pictures for you – to gaze upon when the challenge ends. All this week, starting Monday and going through to Sunday, I have to wear at least one article of clothing/jewelry/shoes that I acquired, sans cost. Yep, it’s a week’s worth of FREE CLOTHING, as modeled by yours truly.
Here are the deets: every day, I have to wear one free thing. How I got it for free can vary – swapping online, swapping or gift from friends, gift from a parent or sibling, found it on the street, you get the idea. The entire outfit doesn’t have to be free, just one part of it. And at the end of the week, I have to line up all the freebies I wore and take pictures – photographic evidence, or ‘proof of free’, if you will.
So far, I’ve worn the beautiful black dress my Dad and StepMom bought me for my birthday last year; a pair of exercise pants given to me after my buddy, Swimmer, purged her closet (I get a LOT of stuff when she purges… and that sounds kind of icky); and this black/grey/yellow tunic from the online Swap Shop:

Cute, yes? I love this challenge idea. In fact, I lurve it so much, I think I’ll do a spin-off for next week – I will wear one article of thrifted clothing a day for one week. Heck, I could probably do that for a MONTH.
By the way, lest ye think this week and next week’s challenges were my own brilliant ideas, know this. I completely stole them from my favorite fashion blogger, What I Wore 2Day. Thanks, Kasmira! Ummm… hope you don’t mind!

Cool idea for next week’s challenge! A great motivator for folks to thrift out with their bad selves (more often, or simply to get going). Most of my wardrobe is from thrift stores, which people usually can’t guess just by looking at me. It sometimes takes a LOT of time and patience to dig and scrounge, but it’s *so* well worth it. Still haven’t tried the online clothes swapping thing. I’ve checked out Kasmira’s web site before, and you’re right — it is a brilliantly fun fashion spot. Super stuff, very inspirational.
