Blessed Relief

Oh Target, my Precious, you will always be the One Ring to me…

Sorry about the LotR reference – Dad and I watched the tail end of Return of the King last night, and the dialogue (along with the omnipresent theme song and the glorious vision of a sweaty Viggo Mortenson) is stuck in my head.  What I’m trying to say with my half-assed movie reference is this – I’m so darned happy Lent is over, so I can return to the Mother Ship and shop at Target once again.

In fact, I’m so excited to be back in the world of the red bull’s eye, whilst driving home from Dad’s house in Omaha I made a list of everything I want to shop for.  Wanna see it?  SURE YOU DO:

1.  Mole skin – used to soften the rough edges on the inside of my shoes.  I have a few blistery beasts that need taming.

2.  Shoe laces – a costumer’s best friend!  I need laces for corsets, bodices, drawstring waistbands, and oh yeah… shoes.

3.  Tights – one white pair and one crocheted pair, if they’re still available.  Yep, need these for costumes, too (Costume Con in Milwaukee is just a month away, so I’ll be in full prep-mode this April).

4.  The Liberty of London stuff – do I need it?  No.  Do I lust after the pretty, pretty florals?  Oh hells YES

5.  The basics – toilet paper, paper towels, LemiShine, sour cream, canned tomatoes.  Aka, all the stuff that’s cheaper and readily available at Target.

6.  Shoes – don’t need ‘em, just want to look at ‘em.  I probably won’t buy anything, unless I find the steal of the century.  But there’s no harm in looking, right?

EDIT for Number 7 – Underwear!  The greatest undies in the world are found at Target.  Gilligan & O’Malley’s low-rise hipsters in the three-pack.  Love.

Now let me ask you – if you could spend any dollar amount, what would you buy at Target today?

I think you should buy that dress. It’s really cute and would look great on you. And, for a new purchase, pretty cheap. You could learn to layer it all funky like Kasmira!

Probably a chair for my bedroom or living room. I’m trying to find something on craigslist for cheap, but having no luck. Either I’m too late or it’s too expensive or the wrong color.

If Liberty of London and Jean Paul Gaultier even *made* plus-sized clothes for Target, I would buy and buy and buy everything in sight. I think the L of L dresses especially look delightful. Otherwise, today, I’d probably buy a really nice digital camera (my old one was *junk* and didn’t last long, and it was a major brand, no less).

I saw a double ottoman that opens up to store things… I miss my ottoman! Target is the best! :)

Um, well, I went to Target today and I bought a bunch of appetizers and cat food. Oooh, exciting. However, I’m keeping an eye on pod docks because there’s a bunch on clearance and the price keeps dropping. I also want one of those giant obnoxious latte mugs, but Target doesn’t have any. Apparently those went out of style when they canceled Friends?

DK, if you haven’t already checked Amazon, try it out. I found a plethora of latte mugs on there tonight, some of which may possibly be what you’re looking for. I got mine years ago, from Cub and a little coffee shop somewhere (haven’t noticed them anywhere more recently). I know this thread is Target-centered. But since ya couldn’t find your mugs there, I thought I’d chime in once again. :-) Good luck!

Post it notes, batteries, coffee, hair products, lampshade, trailmix (they have the best), cereal and milk. There you go, I’m on my way to Target too!

All new bedding and bath towels. It’s been a long while since I had a wedding shower, and I’m ready for some new stuff … but alas, the boys keep wanting food, so my Target dollars go to Archer Farms and Up&Up!

Does Target still carry those Gilligan and O’Malley hipsters? I’ve checked 3 or 4 different Targets and can’t find them anywhere. Cheap Chick, is there a Target somewhere in TC area that still stocks ‘em?

@Jessica, no. They’ve discontinued them AGAIN. ARGH! Now I wear the Xhilaration brand hipsters.
