So, I’ve been a day late all week. Monday’s post was supposed to go up Sunday, yesterday’s was actually Monday’s post, and today’s post was for Tuesday. So, let’s all go back in time for a day, m’kay? Thanks.
One of the five points of the Cheap Chick Manifesto is this – It Takes A Frugal Village. No one is a frugal island; you gotta have friends and family if you REALLY want to be frugal. They help you find great sales, they stop you from shopping when you really shouldn’t, they share their thrifty tips, they give you AWESOME holiday gifts so you don’t feel deprived during your self-imposed shopping bans… the list of frugal sharing and caring is endless. In short, you can’t do it alone.
These last few days in the Village have been particularly fab, as we celebrated the births of THREE denizens – my Big Brother, my BFF Lou, and my first goddaughter, G. Let’s take a closer look, shall we:

Big Brother, aka Christopher (Christy, if you’re his baby sister). Isn’t he handsome? And that’s an old picture; he’s even cuter and clean-shaven today. He bore witness to his 40th year above the dirt yesterday, and he doesn’t look a day over 21, am I right? Such a baby face… I love/adore/worship-the-ground-he-walks-on my Big Bro – he is the uber-brother, the brother by which ALL OTHER BROTHERS MUST BE JUDGED. I feel sorry for everyone who doesn’t have a big brother like mine. You must feel so deprived.

Lou, aka Cindy E. Okay, yes, we’ve been drinking in this picture. But it’s the most recent one I have (from my birthday bowling extravaganza, much fun). Lou celebrated less than 40 years above the dirt on Sunday. She is one my oldest friends ever – Lou has been in my life for so long, she’s more than a friend, she’s my sister. She’s also the greatest career coach in the TC, possibly the world. You can find out more about Lou’s career coaching by clicking on the link up there on the right, or search for her on Facebook at Find Your Fit. You won’t regret it.

G, aka my first goddaughter. She’s one of the people in that picture, but to protect her privacy as she’s underage, I’m not telling you who. Suffice to say, she is gorgeous and wonderful and an UTTER LIE. G was the easiest baby to take care of, making her mom (Larue) and I and everyone who encountered her think, “Huh, having babies is SO SIMPLE. I think I’ll do it, too.” Lies, all lies. However, G remains a delight to me and all who know her. I love her as much as if I birthed her myself. Which, fortunately, I did not. G turned 15 on Sunday, and as soon as my car is fixed up, I’m going to start with the driving lessons. GAH HELP US ALL.

Aw. G. will be so pleased. And it is true – she was a lie as a baby. She slept through the night at 3 months – never put things she shouldn’t into her mouth, never really got into much trouble at all (until her sister arrived, mind you) and she could sing perfect scales at the age of 6 months. Imagine how blindsided we were when her perfectly typical and filled with energy sister was born. It was a shock, to say the least. And I DEEPLY appreciate your offer to teach her to drive. I, for one, would SUCK at that. I am glad she has you.
Also? Lou is the best. LOVE HER. And not just because her jr. high birthday party was the first boy-girl party I ever went to.
Lastly? Happy 4-0 to the Golden Idol. You don’t look a day over 19.
Aww, cool.
I’m sure the folks you mentioned love YOU just as much. Life’s awesome, huh? Have FUN with the driver’s training!
I have my mom, buds in MN, my pal out in Pennsylvania, and others in my Frugal Village. I belong to a professional group, even though I’m still unemployed, and those peeps are beyond amazing. I’m blessed, for sure.
