I have to do it. I HAVE to do my taxes this week. Sigh.
In an effort to take my mind off my looming tax appointment (i.e. procrastinate), I’m writing this blog post. About what, you ask? WHO CARES, as long as I don’t have to sort paperwork? Just jokes, folks, just jokes – this Monday morning’s topic is all about catching up. Because although I’m procrastinating in one area of my life, it doesn’t mean I’m going to put off everything else.
1. Update on my latest shopping challenge. It’s a go – starting May 1, 2010, I am launching my $20 Or Less Remix Shopping Challenge. This time around, I can spend up to a whopping $25 (inflation hits us all, as our Stunt Girl pointed out), but I’m cracking down on my entertainment dollars and “free money” spending. Tune in on the 1st to witness the start of another grueling year at the Cheap Chick Empire.
2. Update on video and pod casting. Remember back in the New Year, when I talked about having a Cheap Chick radio show and YouTube clips? That’s still in the works. However, in an effort to give you GOOD content, and not something that looks/sounds like a third grader’s last minute research project, I’m looking at going back to school… briefly. I need to take a few ‘how to’ classes first, before I start pumping out programming. So hang with me a little while longer – the audio/video is on its way!
3. Just say no. Today, the world is agog at the release of KFC’s latest creation, the Double Down. Two fried chicken patties sandwiched together with cheese, bacon, and a mayo-based sauce equal almost 600 calories of fatty, salty goo. Huh. Here’s a frugal tip I strive endlessly to live up to – don’t eat fast food. It’s always more expensive than cooking for yourself, it’s always less nutritious than cooking for yourself, and OH MY GAH THIS ‘SANDWICH’ IS GOING TO KILL US ALL. But if one of you guys tries it, please share with us how it tastes…
4. Super quick, super cheap beauty bonus. I got the best email via Facebook (Ooo! Fan The Cheap Chick on FB today! Sorry, but I have to make that pitch when I can. I’m trying to reach 500 Fans by May.), sent to me by my fellow-former-Byerly’s hostess and good friend, Lora. Here is her most awesome frugal beauty tip for your viewing pleasure:
“Say, did I ever give you my biggest frugal tip in the world? The world’s best facial, saving me hundreds of dollars, and working better than the top spa’s dermabrasions? I use a bag of Lipton green tea, cut out of the teabag, with an equal amount of baking soda, and then add just enough water to make a paste. I then spend 2-3 minutes massaging it on in circles on my face, then let sit for about 2-3 minutes before rinsing. Try it! It’s spectacular and CHEAP!”

Have fun with the new/updated challenge! I admire you for such a challenge. Good luck with the brief upcoming schooling. Oh my gawsh!! — that “sandwich”?? Are you KIDDING me?!?! Scary. That beauty tip sounds great, thanks! I should try it.
P.S. My frugal fun for today? Watching our beloved Twins on tv — home opener in the new outdoor ballpark, yee-haw!! 5-2, our guys won. Life is good.
I can haz Monday man candy?
