“Watching Over Lucky Clover”

It’s Day Two in my back-of-the-book-description experiment, and today’s imaginary book title comes from one of my favorite Duran Duran songs.  Name that tune, and then describe the book in the Comments below.  C’mon.  You know you want to.

Another thing I know you want – okay, truthfully, I HOPE you want – are the deets from my segment on today’s Fox 9 Morning Buzz.  Well you’re in luck, because I’m of a mind to give them to you.  We discussed inexpensive summer sporting events in the TC… and then Jason told me my necklace looked like something Indiana Jones discovered in Raiders of the Lost Ark.  Sigh.

From Today’s Show:

Canterbury Downs, www.canterburypark.com

Every day, all this season, they are celebrating their 25th Anniversary – which means FREE admission for every race day.  They also run weekly specials, Thursday through Sunday.  Larue’s hubby, El Jefe, is particularly found of Thursday night’s Buck Night – “Begins June 3, First Post 7 PM.  $1 Programs, $1 Hormel Hot Dogs, $1 Pepsi’s, $1 Nachos & Cheese, $2.50 Regular Tap Beer Specials, $3 Premium Tap Beer Specials, and 60 Cent Boneless Buffalo Wild Wings.”

The Lynx http://www.wnba.com/lynx/

Seats start as low as $10 a ticket.  Or, you can you can party at the Lynx Lounge for just $15 a ticket.  They also have tons of great promotional deals all summer long.  WARNING – the seats go up in price… way up.  The next cheapest seat is $30.

The Saint Paul Saints http://saintsbaseball.com/

Tickets to the ORIGINAL outdoor baseball park (take that, Twins!) start as low as $5, and cap out at only $20.  There are also deals for youth and senior tickets, starting as low as $4.  This weekend, June 12th (and then again on June 26th and July 10th) the Saints and Simek’s Meats are hosting a pregame grilling contest whilst you tailgate.  Grill up something good, and you could win $200 total in free summer treats and Saints tickets.

In other, non-Fox 9 news, my web designer and I are working on a new design for the site.  With that in mind, I have a few bloggy questions for you.  Because you should always remember – THIS SITE IS ALL ABOUT YOU, PEOPLE.

1.  Do you like the idea of having the posts scroll across the main page?  Here’s how it would look – you’d enter the site, and short descriptions of my past five posts would scroll by.  To read it in full, you’d click on the post.

2.  Or, do you prefer to have the newest post shown in full on the main page, and then descriptors of the next four posts listed below, like the site is set up now?

3.  OR, would you like the main page set up more like Bionic Beauty’s http://bionic-beauty.com/ , to look more like a traditional newspaper page?  Here’s another example – www.demodecouture.com.

4.  I’d like to use my new headshot for the top photo – the one I use on my Cheap Chick Fan Page on Facebook.  Do you like that picture, or would you prefer another?

Thank you for your input, and thank you for your book descriptions, and thank you for being my friend.  I want to thank you…

    A. Too hard. Would need to dumb it down for me. I’m not good with song titles.
    B. Your trademark ankle bracelet could be Indiana Jones inspired
    C. #2
    D. Where are the photo options?

The Reflex, or “Watching Over Lucky Clover” – a tale of love, honor and leprechauns.

Not all leprechauns are born to wield the shillelgh, and Shamus O’Connor knew he was one of them. Descended from the greatest of the great leprechauns of Ireland, Shamus knew from a young age that it was his destiny to look over the family pot of gold and wear kelly green knickers. And yet… Shamus wanted more. He wanted to go to optometry school and help the blind to see. He wanted to wear jeans. He wanted to live in Seattle, where it was always cloudy and there were no rainbows. Shamus was a man with an impossible dream….

Until he met Flora McDougal, a Scottish exchange student who taught him the ways of love and helped to give him the courage to throw 500 years of history away and to follow his heart instead.

    But it at Amazon.com!

“It made me feel nostalgic for home.” – Maeve Binchy

“A feelgood summertime read!” – Bono

    “It’s magical!” – Colin Farell
