Sometimes, you just got to say it with a song from a late 80′s sitcom.
Thanks to the awesomely awesome readers/Facebookers/friends of the Chick, I have oodles of frugally goodness to share with you on this lovely Friday morning. So let’s get it started in here, starting with:
Michelle, from the FB, wants everyone in the southern Metro (or anyone willing to drive there, like me) to know about this totally free outdoor event – “The Prior Lake Rotary Club’s Lakefront Jazz & Blues Festival at Lakefront Park in Prior Lake. This FREE event starts at 1 p.m. this Saturday and features music from Grammy Award-winning Jonny Lang, Joyce Cooling, Nick Colionne and L’il Ed and the Blues Imperials.” For more details, click here http://www.lakefrontjazz.com/ .
Whilst chilling with my buddy, Chum, on Wednesday, she alerted me to a very important sale – one the entire blogosphere can take advantage of AS I TYPE. Spiegel.com http://www.spiegel.com/shop/thumbnail.aspx?gp_coll_id=5001&gp_cat_id=5002&nav_cat_id=15349&category_id=15350&s_int=HP_0706asAle_MAIN_all is having their final summer sale, with items up to 75% off, including swimwear. Stock up for the rest of the season – and since their fashions are so classic, you can trot them out again next year, too.
Several members of my Posse (for the uninitiated, the Posse – or Wench Posse – is the costuming group/circle of friends I belong to) are as uber-savvy about being thrifty as yours truly. Which is one of the reasons why I hang with them… Anywho, my buddy, Radio, wanted to remind the masses about a fantastic local thrift store – Unique Thrift http://www.uniquethriftstore.com/index.aspx , with several locations in the TC. They have sales twice a week, Mondays and Thursdays, as well as other savings events throughout the year.
Radio is also fond of Valu Thrift Store in St. Paul, and has found many a treasure there, from shoes to crinolines. What? Doesn’t EVERYONE need a crinoline? SURE THEY DO. You can find Valu Thrift at 2145 Hudson Road, or call them at (651) 702- 5920. Nope, they do not have a web site yet.
In conclusion, thank you to my friends for being frugal, and sharing that frugality with me. I would so travel down the road and back again with you guys.

Oooooh, I SO wanna go see Jonny Lang! I’ve loved his work for years. That’s one awesomely-talented human being.
I’ve been to Unique, and I rather prefer Savers. However, I know lots of people love Unique. It’s just my cup of tea. Such is life. Happy thrifting, y’all.
I meant, NOT my cup of tea. Ooops.
Yay! Speigel! BTW- I saved $13 at Target today – coupons + what was already on sale … w00t!
That’s a nice song to have stuck in my mind. Have you seen the St. Olaf Minnesota facebook page?
Just an FYI — the link for Unique Thrift stores you have listed in your blog entry is for a chain of Unique stores in IL, IN and OH. There is no information as to the locations of the Twin Cities Unique stores.
