Even though I feel like I’m dying on the inside, I managed to slap enough makeup on my pig and stagger down to Fox 9 this morning to film my segment for the Buzz. BECAUSE I CARE, DARN IT. Also, because I’m paid to do so. Here is what we discussed:
Restaurant Week, August 1-6th in the Twin Cities.
Restaurants are offering prix fixe (pre-set) menus at discounted prices, allowing new diners to try out their food for less. You’ll find lunches for $10 or $20, and dinners for as low as $15, maxing out at just $30. For a complete list, including menus, click here.
You KNOW I was most excited about this – $15 Dinners!
Rinata in Uptown – like most of the restaurant’s prix fixe menus, theirs includes a starter, entrée and dessert. I’d go with the lasagna.
Rainbow Chinese in Mpls. – includes a starter, entrée and dessert, like chocolate wontons.
Lyndale Tap House in Uptown – they have a set $15 dinner option, and a $30 that gives you many different selections to mix and match.
Koyi Sushi Too – they offer an appetizer, sushi, and ice cream for dessert.
**Joe’s Garage in Mpls. – they give you a ton of mix and match options for starters, entrees and desserts. This has the best $15 menu of the bunch.
Ginger Hop in Nordeast – their prix fixe menu allows you to choose which meat or meat replacement you’d like in your order, like shrimp or mock duck.
Chiang Mai Thai in Uptown – offering fun fusion foods like fried cashews for starters and laab salad for your main course.
Bradstreet Crafthouse in Mpls – an AWESOME opportunity to hang out at the Graves Hotel in downtown and enjoy a delicious meal at a fraction of the price. Excellent bargain!
Barrio in Mpls and St. Paul – check out their build-your-own taco dinner with pork carnitas and chicken tinga.
Ba-Gu Sushi in Mpls. – sushi plus extras for just $15. They also have noodle-y options for fish-frowners.
al Vento in Mpls. – excellent options for your three choices, including their olive oil cake with blackberry sauce.
I’m also psyched about these guys: Lunches for $10!
Barrio, Café Ena, Campiello, Chiang Mai Thai, D’Amico Kitchen, El Meson, Ginger Hop, Jimmy’s Food and Cocktails, Kafe 421, Parma 8200, Rainbow Chinese, Samba Taste of Brazil, Sea Change (holy cow!), and Vincent A Restaurant (once again, holy cow!!!).
What’s the very best deal available? Fogo de Chao’s dinner of all you can eat meat-apalooza for just $30 a person. And yes, this DOES include a dessert. In a word, NOM.

Sorry to hear you’re not feeling well CC. It is well known that Kenosha is a hotbed for illness.
One good resource for cheap eats are the restaurants on University Avenue.
Lagoon Restaurant, for instance, offers lunch and dinner specials, all under $10

The restaurant selection is a little heavy on Asian cuisine, but from Snelling Ave to Rice Street, you should be able to find something you’ll like for pretty cheap.
