$3.50

Yesterday on the Fox 9 Morning Buzz, I gave a shout out to my new favorite thrift store – the CHAP Store on Hwy 13 in Burnsville.  Would you like to see WHY it’s my most favorite thrift store (Today, anyway.  All things are always subject to change.)?  Here it is:

Please excuse the mess on the ground.  I’m in the process of making fascinators for me, my Ma, my SIL, and my niece, Go-Go.  We will wear them Friday morning whilst watching the Royal Wedding.  As one does.

Behold!  My adorable, soft, super-flattering cardigan!  Can you guess how much I paid for it?  GUESS.  Yup, $3.50.  But wait, it gets better.  Guess what brand it is?  GUESS.  It’s Moth for Anthropology – which normally retails for around $100+.  Score!!!

You should have seen me at the cash register.  The cardigan was marked at $7 – which I thought was an insane steal.  I was feeling a wee bit guilty, like I was ripping off the thrift store.  But then, it got worse:

Nice lady at the register (NLATR): That’ll be $3.50. *smiles*

Me:  *blank stare* ??????

NLATR:  *smile slowly fades*

Me:  Wait, what?

NLATR:  It’s $3.50.  Is that… okay?

Me:  *unintentionally rudely* Is it on sale or something?

NLATR:  Yes, all clothing is 50% off today.

Me:  *sputtering* But.. WHY?!?!?

NLATR:  *regretting coming to work that day* It just is.

Me:  Holy crap!  YES, $3.50 is JUST FINE.  Holy crap!  *feels even more guilty about the ridiculously low price*

Go to the CHAP Store.  Go NOW.  They have lovely things, crazy-good sales, a tidy layout, and it even smells good in there.

    1. Love the cardigan.

    2. I was going to write today or tomorrow about MY new favorite thrift store, which is in St. Paul. My post will not include such a fun dialogue exchange but I did take pictures inside the store, while trying not to look like the crazy lady taking pictures inside a thrift store.

Probably should not say “holy crap” when it is a Christian Thrift store.

My favorite thrift store is Twice as Nice in Blaine. It is on the corner of 117 and Jefferson. Friday is half price day. I think you would like it as well as Chaps. Have a nice day! Carol

So cute! I love learning about new thrift stores. The problem is I usually never go to them. Your find inspires me to move it!

Many fabulous people have helped The Cheap Chick Empire throughout the years, and one of the best and coolest people to give me a hand up is Cooper Lawrence.  So I was THRILLED when I saw she had a new book out – The Yoga Club.  Dudes, you should all go buy it now and then read it and then say awesome things about it.

Why?  Because Cooper is an amazing writer.  And?  A vastly entertaining person.  So it’s worth your time and money.  Cooper Lawrence!  She is Cheap Chick Approved.
