Sadly, I have to use nasal spray. Time and time again, I try to go without and I run (no pun intended) into trouble. But I’m cheap, and the nasal spray isn’t (even the generic stuff). The doc says 2 sprays per nostril and I have discovered that one spray per nostril works! Do you realize what a huge savings that is? Yes, easy math. I know people don’t like talking about nose stuff…but isn’t that a great savings tip?

Robin – have you ever tried a Neti (sp) Pot? They are refillable, which ultimately makes them CHEAPER. Albeit, grosser than nasal spray.

Even better than the Neti Pot is a low pressure sinus rinse. (”Low pressure” being you hand-squeeze – as gently or strong as your ears can handle! – a little 8 oz bottle.) My dad has COPD and gets seriously life-threatening sinus infections on a regular basis. He started using the sinus rinse (it’s made by NeilMed, and you can get it at Cub Foods pharmacy – ask at the counter – for $12 and there’s a $3 rebate included in the instruction/adverstisement booklet) one month ago, and not only has he not had an infection, but his breathing has been better and his energy levels are higher. I was so impressed I went out and got one. It’s uncomfortable at first, but you get used to it pretty quickly, and BOY are my allergies better! According to my dad’s doctor, once you run out of the little packets, you can add up to 1 table spoon (yes, I said table spoon, make sure you SLOWLY work your way up to that amount!) of non-iodine salt (iodized salt will sting more) and a pinch of baking soda. Go to their website to learn more: http://www.neilmed.com/usa/index.php

Okay, this nose stuff is grossing me out.

Here’s a fabulous, free activity for families: Go to a farm and see animals with your kids. You don’t have to wait until pumpkin season to go hang out at a farm.

My family’s favorite is the Fall Harvest Orchard in Delano…

They opened this weekend for the season. Lots of fun and worth the drive.

Sorry Marketing Mama…I can’t help but be thankful for Cheap Chick and Marti’s tips. I’ll give it a try however, I’m scared about the “water up the nose” effect from bad experiences in the pool. And what better time to get my allergies under control before I go to the Fall Harvest Orchard!

Check out the annual Gina B. Designs annual warehouse sale. Going on today (10/23) and tomorrow (10/24). Great deals on unique greeting cards and stationary products. Yes, a hand written note (not a cyber-note) is still a very nice touch.

I wanted to let you know about a local craft show called the No Coast show @ the Global Midtown Market. It is the first weekend in December. There are artist from all over the Tri state area. Cheap gifts and great stuff! Buying local keeps the $ in the local economy and gets you a “Green” gift.

I might be bias, because I’m a local artist. I have some work at a new store in Rosedale called Celebrate Art. It is a gallery of bargain art by local artist.
I heard that the art attack in nordeast last weekend was mobbed. People are spending less, and buying local! This will give a boost to the local businesses.
Better yet make your own cards and gifts for the holidays!

My favorites tips are always the fun little ones that kinda make you think – “That is a good idea, maybe I’ll try it!”

Pull out and wash your lint filter from your dryer every six months, use a tooth brush or some kind of brush, it is clean when water can go through the filter. Dryer sheets give off a waxing film, which covers your filter and air can not go through it, which could cause a fire or cause your heating element to burn out, cleaning your filter will extend the life of your dryer.

I went to JoAnn’s today and rummaged through the clearance bins. I came away with lots of buttons, a clasp and some tins all ranging from $2.97 to $0.25. The buttons say $0.50 – $0.97 but they rang up for $0.25!
